Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to buy second-hand on HANGARR?

Every order has buyer protection. We hold the payment until the item arrives, you have 2 days after delivery to tell us if it isn't as described, and a real person reviews every dispute. Payments are processed by Stripe, so HANGARR never sees your card details.

Can I sell lots of clothes at once?

Yes. Add photos and videos of everything you want to sell, and Smart Upload™ sorts them into listings and fills in the details in about 60 seconds. You check each one, then publish.

What happens to my listings before buying opens?

They go live straight away and stay on the marketplace, so they're there the day buying opens. Friends you invite can buy one item before then.

Where does HANGARR work?

HANGARR is based in London. You can buy and sell anywhere in the UK, and repairs and alterations are done by tailor shops in London, posted both ways.

What does it cost to sell?

Nothing. There are no seller fees and no listing fees: what the item sells for is what you get. Buyers pay the buyer protection fee on top of the price you set.

What is the buyer protection fee?

3 to 7% of the item price plus 25p to 75p, depending on the price, added at checkout and shown before you pay. It never changes with what you have bought before or how much is in your basket. The one exception is our first 500 members, who pay none of it: see launch rewards.

Who pays for postage when I buy?

You do. You pick a delivery option at checkout, home delivery or a collection point, and pay for it with the item. The seller posts it with the prepaid label we send them, so they have nothing to pay at the Post Office.

Who pays for postage on a repair or alteration?

You do, once. When you accept a quote you pay for the work and the postage both ways in one go, and we send you the label. If you don't accept a quote, you don't pay anything.

When do I get paid for something I've sold?

Post the item with the label we send you. The buyer has 2 days after delivery to report a problem. Once they confirm it's OK, or the 2 days pass with nothing reported, the sale completes and your earnings reach your HANGARR balance 3 days later. You withdraw them to your bank from there: nothing is sent automatically. If a buyer reports a problem we may hold the payout while we look into it: see the terms for the detail.

How long does a repair take?

The average is 5 to 7 days, but it depends on the tailor and how much work the piece needs, so we don't promise a date. Each quote comes with that tailor's own turnaround before you choose.

What if something's wrong when it arrives?

Tell us and we'll look at it. For a marketplace order you have two days after delivery to report a problem; for a repair or alteration you have seven days after the piece lands back with you. Disputes are read by a person, not a bot.

Does a repair have to be something I bought on HANGARR?

No. Anything in your wardrobe is eligible, wherever it came from.
